Twenty-Seven

The older we get
The closer we are to that finish line
I’m getting closer to it yet
So much to do so little time
I’m ready to meet my maker
But I prefer it be postponed
Some say we are all sinners
And it’s our choices that we own
It takes real power to aim for the stairs to Heaven
And not much at all to take a nose dive to Hell
We’re only human and we all get twenty-seven
That’s twenty-seven chances to choose well
Does knowledge really come with deaths release?
Everyone I know want time on Earth increased
Sooner or later we all bend the knee
To the Gods of Heaven or those of Hades
Life round here can feel like quicksand sinking
Our choices matter we all best do some thinking
Everybody needs some inner peace, or do they?
It takes real power to aim for the stairs to Heaven
And not much at all to take a nose dive to Hell
We’re only human and we all get twenty-seven
That’s twenty-seven chances to choose well
